Join the Fight
The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift 2020
JULY 9 – JULY 19, 2020 | HARBORCENTER
We want you and your teammates to join us in the fight against cancer! As an 11 Day Power Play team captain you and your team are supporting and raising funds for local cancer causes including Roswell Park Comprehensive Care Center, Make-A-Wish Western NY, Camp Good Days and the Roswell Park and Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
As a team captain, you would be putting together one or two teams of 15-20 hockey players each. All players will be required to pay a $25 registration fee and be asked to set a $500 fundraising goal. However, if a player does not raise at least $225 at the time of their shift check-in, that player will be automatically charged to cover expenses related to participation. For example, if a player raised $175, they will be charged $50 at check in. Please be assured that the 11 Day Power Play organization will provide tips, guidance and support that will help you and your teammates meet and exceed your fundraising goals!
CAPTAIN EXPECTATIONS:
- Recruit players who understand the purpose of this community charity hockey game
- Pass on newsletters and information to teammates
- Motivate and inspire players to fundraise and have fun doing so
- Encourage attendance at 11 Day Power Play events
- Motivate teammates to prepare physically for the three-hour shift, etc.
Please note that team captains who already have a set opponent of the same age and hockey experience or who have enough players to be split into two teams (i.e., 30-40 players) will be considered first.
Captains who come with one team (i.e. 15-20 players) and no set opponent will be considered based on available match-ups with other applicants of the same age and hockey experience.
Please note the community shift is a continuous 11-day hockey game and your team will be assigned a three-hour shift between July 9th – 19th as part of this marathon game.
Team applications are no longer being accepted.
