Team WGR 550, and WBEN’s Brian Mazurowski, raised more than $20,000 for cancer research at Roswell Park on Wednesday afternoon, as they participated in their three-hour shift at the 11 Day Power Play.
As expected, team Entercom skated away with the 12-11 victory over the Media All Stars, which included players such as Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Channel 7 Meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski and Channel 2 Reporter Pete Gallivan.
Here’s what the players had to say about being a small part of such a large event:
“Oh, it’s awesome because everybody has a common interest, and they’ve had their experiences with cancer,” said Paul Zakrzewski. “Everybody knows how important it is to try to fund, get new research and help out in any way that we can. The best way we know how is hockey, it’s what we all know and love, the common bond here with everyone.”
